P Wave PR Interval

.06-.10 sec .12-.20 sec

QRS ST segment

.06-.12 sec .5-1.0 sec

Atrial depolarization (contraction of atria) Upright, rounded, and followed by QRS Depolarization of the heart from the SA node through the atria, AV node, and HIS. If it is normal it indicates the impulse originated from or close to the SA node and traveled unobstructed. If there is a problem with PR interval = AV Block Depolarization of the ventricles (systole/contraction). Ventricles are depolarized Elevated 1mm or more above the baseline= early indicator of MI Depressed 1mm or more below = ischemia, old injury, or hypokalemia Ventricular repolarization (diastole/filling) Oriented in same direction as QRS, slightly asymmetrical When present follows same direction as T wave Prominent U waves usually indicate hypokalemia
