Confidential enquiry into the deaths of doctors subject to fitness to practice investigations by the General Medical Council
Responsible department: Ministry of Justice If a person died in police custody unexpectedly, there could be public outcry, and investigations into what happened and why. In comparison, we know of about hundred deaths of medical doctors subject to fitness to practice investigations by the General Medical Council. European Convention on Human Rights, Aritcle 2 would be satisfied by prompt and effective investigation.
