DRUNKARD OF THE VILLAGE 1. My impression of Mano is that he is selfish and irresponsible.

For example, instead of using the money he makes to take care of his family, he uses it to get drunk. 2. She thinks of her husband as the pillar of her life and felt lost and drifting without him. This clearly shows that she still loves him and hes just the same to her as he was when he was younger. 3. Sona feels that his father is stupid and worthless and makes their lives miserable and the very thought of him makes him sick, whereas his mother feels that to her, to her he was as mighty as the river that flowed outside and there was nothing a living man could do that he could not. 4. Shes aged and piled with grief and tear. 5. Sona feels hatred towards mano, and sometimes he listened to his father and he wanted to kick him because he was so ashamed. Often in silence hed shaken his fist and said one day, ahll-ahll.... And sometimes he ground his teeth and said beast. Yes, for example, after the men helped him put Mano into the boat, Sona pushed off and after a while he looked back at the bridge and everything behind them was swallowed by the darkness. And then Sona said Pa, yuh going home. 6. Assing put up with Mano because of the rum he consumed which made quite a difference to Assings account. 7. Hes angry with Sona because of the role reversal. He feels that Sona shouldnt tell him what to do. 8. Yes and no. Yes, because in the first part of the story, hes portrayed as a man who had been hit by hard times (she remembered that in his young days there was nothing any living man could do that he could not). And no, because in the middle of the story, we found that hes selfish and irresponsible. 9. What provokes Sona the most is when Mano kicks him in public, which makes him (Sona) feels humiliated. 10. He wants the readers to use their imagination because its a short story. 11. He probably wouldnt have been suspected of murder because hes young and there are crocodiles in the river, so the people would have think that he fell overboard. 12. 13. I greatly sympathised with Sona. What influenced my views is that hes very young to have to take on the responsibility that he had looking after his father and worrying about his mother. He did not have time to enjoy his childhood.
