Situation Andrew, Billy, Carrie, Darren, Edward and Fiona are friends.

They meet up at a restaurant for a get together. Immediately after nishing their last drinks for the night, they decide to leave. Some of them were over the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit of 0.05. Luckily, there were enough drivers to get them all home in 2 cars without overly inconveniencing anyone. Find out who drove the cars and the passengers in each car.

Instructions: 1) Each group member will be given a list of different clues 2) Using all the clues you have, work out a solution to the situation above Note: some clues may not be relevant! 3) You may use a calculator to nd out the BAC Hint: It may be faster if you discuss the relevant clues on your list instead of just passing them to each other. You may also want to strategise your approach (see below for example)

CLUE LIST 1 1) Andrew, Darren and Fiona share a bottle of wine cooler 2) Darren and Fiona are 2 kgs heavier than Billy and Carrie respectively 3) Carrie and Fiona live in the same apartment building 4) Andrew and Fiona have two glasses of wine cooler each 5) Carrie weighs 56 kg

CLUE LIST 2 1) They left the restaurant at 10.45pm 2) Billy and Fiona have been married for 5 years 3) The bottle of wine cooler contained ve glasses 4) Billy and Edward shared a jug of cider 5) Each jug contained 480mL of cider 6) The wine cooler label read: ! !
SPARKLING WINE 1 Litre 200mL per serve (5 serves) Alcohol content: 5%

CLUE LIST 3 1) Billy drinks 2 3 of the jug of cider and Edward has the rest 2) Darren and Edward both live on Elms Street 3) Andrew weighs 73 kg and Billy is 12 kgs lighter than Andrew 4) Each can of beer contains 12mL of alcohol 5) The six of them have been friends since high school 6) The weight of uid in Andrews body is approximately 42.34kg

CLUE LIST 4 1) Carrie got a lift from Andrew to the restaurant as her driving license is suspended and they live close to each other 2) The jug of cider served had 12.5% alcohol content in it 3) It takes about 50 minutes to drive from Darrens house to Fionas apartment 4) Their bill came up to a total of $180.55 5) Edward is 10 kgs lighter than Darren 6) All the men had a can of beer each that night
