NED KELLY

Edward Ned Kelly was born on June 1855 at Beveridge, Victoria he was raised on the banks of Winter Creek. In December 1866 Ned left school after his farther died in 1869. In 1869 Ned was arrested for the first time. Life was hard for Ned and he had to do lots of work on his familys farm Ned found himself getting into lots of trouble. In 1870, Ned was jailed for having possession of a stolen horse. In 1880 the Kelly gang created their armour made from metal plates. Ned Kelly and the Kelly gang became one of the most wanted people in Victoria because Ned and the gang robbed lots of banks and committed many crimes. In 1978, Ned became angry about laws that he thought were unfair on the poor people. He was frustrated with how things were. Also in 1878 Ned shoot Constable Alexander Fitzpatrick in the wrist after becoming too friendly with his sister Kate. The constable lied in his report about this shooting which meant Ned Kellys mother was put into jail for 3 years. Ned was afraid

that the police would not believe his account of what happened at string bark creek. The police come and a shoot-out started between them 3 police man were killed. The Kelly gang were in trouble. -Reward was offer for each of the Kelly gang members die or alive. The Kelly gang kept on robbing banks at Euroa and Jerilderie to give money to the poor and badly treated Irish Catholics. The Kelly gang needed some protection so if they got shot they would not get injured. In June 1880 the Kelly gang tried to derail a train; however a hostage escaped and tolled the police.
