Remember to say them in your head, or quietly so you can hear the sound they make. 2. Together we will figure out a rule that will help us remember which group they fit into. In your spelling notebook, write out: Sort 8 Long a sound: VCe. When I have a vowel, then a consonant and then an e, the e is silent and the vowel before the consonant makes a long sound.
