Music/songs can serve many purposes while being

played throughout the school day. It can calm, motivate, relax, focus, excite and inspire students when the correct music is used in the correct context.

Actually there are 6 genres in songs. As example, folk


songs, lullabies, ballad, blues pop, R&B and jazz.

Definition:
Rhythm and Blues music, or R&B music, was originally
termed "race music" and basically included any form of music intended for black audiences.

Rhythm and Blues (R&B) is a music genre combining jazz,


gospel, and blues influences which developed within African-American communities in the 1940s and achieved mainstream popularity in the 1950s to 1960s.

2) Styles of R&B R&B encompasses a variety of styles including soul, Motown, funk, disco, rap, hiphop, doo-wop, black rock 'n' roll.

3) Impact on Society
R&B music has a strong impact on American culture for blacks and whites alike. The genre has influenced other types of music such as rock 'n' roll and also dancing, fashion, language and attitudes.
R&B music helped to promote understanding and unity between different cultures.

Good tool to motivate the students' learning process A variety of new vocabulary can be introduced to students through songs. Grammar and cultural aspects can be introduced through songs. Song lyrics can be used in relating to situations of the world around us. Improve their listening, speaking and reading skills.
