Inquiry Planner Assessment: Students will be able to identify a chosen animals- features, habitat and behaviour.

Students will write one fact about their chosen animal which includes above information

Grade: Prep/year 1 Big idea- living things have basic needs Unit Focus- Biological science Links to curriculumScience Living things have basic needs including food and water. Living things have a variety of external features and live in different places where the needs are met

SESSION 1 T model- mind map used to brain storm- to show thinking Students will research animal habitat, features and behaviour and include information on their mind map Research using books, you tube, paper, pictures

SESSION 2 T model- show full poster We need a heading, mind map Picture and text Continued as previous session. Ask students to choose pictures and diagrams which could be included on poster and include facts from thinking Students need to decide who will do heading, picture and text

SESSION 3 T model power-point Heading, text (a fact for habitat, features and behaviour) and picture Explain how we will be using poster which was our thinking to create a power-point Make rubric as class

SESSION 4-6 Students begin working on power-point with year 2/3

Session 6- end of term Students will make diagrams of chosen animals habitat T will need to model structure Team roles need to be made
