Faculty of Science Established in 1923 and situated in the oldest city of The Netherlands, it has seven faculties and enrols over 17.500 students. Our personal style of teaching - offering plenty of opportunity to work closely with instructors and fellow students in small seminars - ensures that the university does not become a mere 'degree factory'. == Research == Where scientists come together from different backgrounds, new insights emerge. One of the main strengths of research at our university is the way we forge cooperative links across national and disciplinary boundaries. Our top people are not buried away in their research groups they derive their strength from a continuous exchange of ideas and results with others working in related areas. == Mutual exchange == The mutual exchange between the city and the University can be heard in the intellectual debates which, in a university city such as Nijmegen, are particularly lively. This intellectual life is part of Nijmegen's atmosphere and certainly contributes to making the city and the region a more attractive place to live. -
