The Shoebox Project Ms Skinner 8th Grade Humanities Project Overview During this project, we will explore the

seminal point in our nations historythe Revolutionary War. Through our reading of Octavian Nothing and students individual research, we will seek to give voice to many of the people present at the time of the war that typically arent represented in history. We will be learning how to use artifacts to tell a story about a persons life, from making our own time capsules to final, museum quality collection about a person from the American Revolution. Essential Questions Is there a right way to tell our history? How do historians use artifacts to tell a persons story? What is needed to properly use evidence to build and support an argument? Products and Criteria Two shoeboxes: a personal one and one of a selected persona from the American revolution that contain artifacts that tell the story of both you and of your character An interactive notebook Expository writing pieces explaining each individual artifact that goes into the box

Together with other students, a design of how your boxes will be displayed Challenge Option The challenge option in this project will require working with me to help with organizing the displays for exhibition as well as making contacts in the outside community.
