1. PEELING OF CONCRETE COVER

Possible Reason : Defective concrete as a result of ageing is commonly found in old buildings. Persistent water leakage may affect the steel reinforcement. Weak concrete caused by the use of salty water in concrete mix. Dampness and improper mixing of mortar. 2. HAIR LINE CRACKS IN STONE MASONRY

Possible Reasons : Vibration in wall Stones possess significant compressive strength but their ability to accommodate tension is limited. As a consequence if tension stress is develops cracking frequently occurs. Thermal movements - Tensile and compressive stresses develop within the building elements due to temperature changes. The magnitude of the stress depends on the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material. Cracks can occur if the stone is restrained and lacks sufficient joints to accommodate the movement.

3. POT HOLE IN THE STONE MASONARY WALL

Possible Reasons : Thermal movements - Tensile and compressive stresses develop within the stones due to temperature changes. Expansion and contraction in stone. 4. CRACKING OF PLASTER

Possible Reasons : Improper Grading of material The defects could be due to ageing, structural movements, defective workmanship during installation, thermal movement, defective or missing expansion joints, damage by external factors , ingress of water into the gap between the finishes and the structure, etc. 5. CRACKING AS A GAP IN BOUNDARY Possible Reasons : Ingress of water into the gap between the finishes and the structure Vibration in wall.

6. HAIR LINE CRACKS ON PLASTERING

Possible Reasons : 7. Settling time of cement. Expansion and contraction due thermal effect. Not proper curing. CRACKING IN FLOOR FINISHING

Possible Reasons : Uneven expansion and shrinkage. Poor Drainage
