How to Update the USB Driver for Your Digital Video Camera

1. Put the battery in your Digital Video Camera or connect the AC adapter to your camera, and turn it on. Check that the "Camera lamp" is on. 2. Connect your Di0gital Video Camera to your personal computer with an USB cable. Please take note that the position of the USB port differs depending on the type of the camera. 3. Create a new folder in [My Documents] and name it "NewDriver."

4. Move all the obtained files ("mtdv2ku2.sys," "mtdv2ks2.sys," and "mtdv2ks3.inf") into the created folder (NewDriver). It doesn't matter whether ".sys" and ".inf" are shown or not (as long as it looks like the below).

5. Click the [Start] button at the bottom left of the screen and right-click [My Computer]. When the menu appears as shown below, click [Properties].

6. Your system properties are shown. Click the [Hardware] tab.

7. In the tab shown below, click the [Device Manager] button.

8. In the window shown below, double-click [Ports (COM & LPT)]. When [Panasonic DVC USB SERIAL Driver (COM X)] appears, right-click it. The X in "COM X" is a number that differs depending on your PC environment. Click [Update Driver].

9. When the window shown below appears, click [Install from a list or specific location] and click the [Next] button.

10. Click to check [Include this location in the search] and click the [Browse] button.

11. In the window shown below, click to select the "NewDriver" folder, and then click the [OK] button. "New Driver" is the folder you have created in [My Documents].

12. When the window shown below appears, click the [Next] button.

14. The window shown below appears and the search begins. The X in "COM X" is a number that differs depending on your PC environment.

15. When the warning message shown below appears, click the [Continue Anyway] button.

You don't have to mind the message because this is not the case where the trouble that it tells occurs.

16. When the installation is complete after a while, click the [Finish] button.

17. In the [Device Manager] window, check that [Panasonic DVC USB SERIAL Driver (COM X)] has been updated to [Panasonic DVC USB SERIAL Driver for WinXP (COM X)]. The X in "COM X" is a number that differs depending on your PC environment.
