He was know as a political journalist and a great pamphleteer The son of a poor corset maker Drifted from job to job A sailor, teacher, and merchant Studied independentlyhis hobby? .Writing!

Paine was a friend of Ben Franklin He moved to America in 1774 He became a magazine editor He had a blunt, straightforward style of writing He wrote a short Pamphlet It would become a powerful piece of propaganda!
