The masthead, in word links to violence with the title UltraKill!

This links to the genre as it is considered through stereotype and well founded evidence that it has violence, this therefore links to the colour scheme which connotes violence with the red strapline and text around the lower side of the magazine. The metallic look of Ultrakill links to the genre, which is called Metal.

Anchorage text is describing the main image of Max lead singer of Sepultra, he is sitting on rocks which connote a rock element of the magazine, and this background was chosen in particular to make the rock feel, through minor details.

The main image and Max himself has him in rather dark clothing, which is part of the metal look, he also has long hair which is a style many members of metal bands and metal fans have, it comes as part of the (somewhat stereotypical view of the metal look but has its foundations) it connotes going against gender roles but also is part of a metal some people are involved in, headbanging.

The strapline consist of some of the metal bands in which are included in the magazine, it is in line with the barcode and is an also put in an almost hellish text and style, the truth about the devil section just above it speaks about Satanism, hence giving this a very extreme magazine. In front of the main image is also a few bands we can expect to be featured or mainly featured in the magazine for example Killing Joke.

The barcode is integrated with the price as well as June/July (the date) the barcodes functions are that you can see the amount you have to pay in the shop as well telling the producers of the magazine how well each issue is selling therefore impacting on future issues for example who they put on the cover. The date consists of two months which means that the content of the magazine must be large to span such a large amount of time. Also the price being what is considered middle ground at the time also suggests this.
