A Synopsis Report On

Compare the Architecture, feature, and advancement between Intel Itanium Series.

Lovely Professional University Phagwara (Punjab) Submitted Synopsis Report, 2013 of ECE 312 In Computer Science and Engineering By Name-shivank agarwal (Reg No-- 11101125) Under the guidance of MR. Praveen Srivastav (Asstt. Professor)

Itanium (/atenim/ eye-tay-nee-m) is a family of 64-bit Intel microprocessors that implement the Intel Itanium architecture (formerly called IA-64). Intel markets the processors for enterprise servers and high-performance computing systems. The architecture originated at Hewlett-Packard (HP), and was later jointly developed by HP and Intel.

A general architecture of itanium

There are lots of differences according to series of itanium ,it can be on the basis of - 1)ArchitectureEach processor of itananium with different series has different architecture. The architecture implements 128 integer registers, 128 floating point registers, 64 one-bit predicates, and eight branch registers. The floating point registers are 82 bits long to preserve precision for intermediate results.

2)Each series of the itanium series is being differentiated by its code name. 3) comparison of each series can be done on the following key terms

Codename process Released Clock

L2Cache/ L3Cache/ dies/ cores/ watts/ Bus core processor device die device

Advancement in each series-
