ADAPTATION OF ANIMALS TO THEIR HABITAT


Animals adapt to their habitat. HABITAT is a place where living things naturally live. One of ways animals adapt to their habitat is through their body coverings. Two parts of the body covering: Skin protects the internal organs of an animal. Outer covering

A. Hair or Fur It keeps the animal warm. Animals that live in warm places have thin hair. Animals that live in cold places have thicker hair.

Dog Cat Lion Tiger

Feathers keep birds warm and help them fly. The male of certain kinds of birds usually have brighter and more colorful feathers which help them attract female birds, example is the peacock.

C. Scales Examples: Fish Snake Crocodile

D. SHELLS

Examples: Lobster Snail Crab Turtle

E. SPINES

Examples: Porcupine Hedgehog

F. Animals that do not have scales, feathers, hair, and shells.

Examples: Earthworm Jellyfish Frog
