This Guy

There is this guy I know.

When we met he seemed
Grumpy, like an old man,
Quiet, strange and mean.
But now I’ve got to know him,
And though he hasn’t changed,
My mind’s completely altered,
My heart’ll never be the same.

There is this guy I know.

He rarely wears a smile.
But, as with sun in Scotland,
I know waiting is worthwhile.
For when he looks at me and smiles,
And firmly holds my gaze,
I know that, though peculiar,
I’d never change his ways.

There is this guy I know.

He annoys me like hell.
He always tries to wind me up,
And tickle me as well.
But, though he tries to hide it,
He’s sweet in his own way,
And just a simple text from him,
Can brighten up my day.

Who is this guy I know?

He goes by many names.
Nile, Sparrow…even Iain,
It’s all part of the games.
He even has a secret name,
A secret I will keep,
I must, because he trusts me,
I trust him, enough to sleep.
