Criterion A test Reflection

Level 1-2 Question 1c
Incorrect: (3)2-(-5)2 = -19 Correct: (3)2-(-5)2= -16 Reflection: I correctly squared -5 and got 25. When I did the 32 part of the problem I multiplied 3 by 2 instead of 3 by itself. This meant I got 6 - 25 instead of 9 25. I can improve by checking my work properly. This was a simple mistake that could have been resolved by showing my work instead of doing in my head as I did.

Level 1-2 Question 2d

Incorrect: 36 x 0.6 = 19.2 Correct: 36 x 0.6 = 21.6 Reflection: This was also a simple mistake that could have been resolved by properly checking my results. I used the cross multiplication method but when I multiplied six by six I accidentally added them instead of multiplying them. I did multiply six by three correctly and I placed the decimal point in the correct position. There is an alternate method called the lattice method that I could have used.

Level 7-8 Question 7

Incorrect: (3m2 x 6m) / (4m x -2m) = 9m3 / -8m2 Correct: (3m2 x 6m) / (4m x -2m) = -6.75 Reflection: I mixed up this question with a few I have done in the past. I thought that we should add the exponents. I also made other silly mistakes like adding instead of multiplying. I didnt do a single thing in this problem correctly.

Level 7-8 Question 8

Incorrect: 1 /3 + 1/4 = 4/12 + 3/12= <<<7/12>>> Correct: 1 /3 + 1/4 = 4/12 + 3/12= 7/12= 12 7 = 5 = <<<5/12>>> Reflection: I did the calculations correctly but then I forgot to find the difference, which the problem was asking me for. This wouldn't have happened if I checked my work. As far as I know there are no alternate methods for this kind of problem. I used the simplest way I could think of, by making the same denominator so that it was easier to add the two fractions.
