Nasal obstruction

Nasal obstruction may be a chronic condition with repeated relapses. The size and severity of obstruction may change from time to time, and in severe cases the olfactory sense may be completely lost. Chronic simple rhinitis and chronic hypertrophic rhinitis in modern medicine are similar to this disease and can be treated by the following methods. Applications of hand therapy: Massage therapy: Location: Midline of palm, nose, throat, lung, and lymph areas, stomach and intestine reflective point, and head acupoint. Method of manipulation: Pushing midline of palm; digitpressing and kneading maneuvers applied at nose, throat, lung, and lymph areas; and pinching maneuver at stomach and intestine point and head acupoint. Acupuncture therapy: At regular and extra acupoints: Location: Shaoshang (LU 10) and Hegu (LI 4) acupoints. Method of manipulation: Bleeding therapy is applied at Shaoshang; the needle is inserted at Hegu for 3.3 cm and retained for 30 minutes after strong needling stimulation. At special acupoints beside the second metacarpal bone: Location: Head acupoint and liver acupoint. Method of manipulation: The needles are inserted for 1.6 cm and retained for 20 minutes.
