Haunted House
The theme for our Haunted House is the HAUNTED CARNIVal, reminiscent of the original Carnival 40 years ago! The Build Day is on Saturday, October 5th at Plumb Elementary, from 8:30 a.m. until. We need all the man power we can find! If you are a registered volunteer, please come to help us on that day! The more sweat equity we can apply, the better the Haunted Carnival will be for our attendees! If you have any scrap lumber, scrap PVC pipe, newspapers, extra screws and nails, power saws or power drills, hand screwdrivers and hammers, long power cords, carnival colored paints and paint brushes, please bring them with you to use on October 5th. The hours for this years Haunted House are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday night Oct. 25th, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 26th. If you can volunteer as an actor during these times, please fill out the Carnival Volunteer form and we will contact you to get you set up an ready to go! If you have any questions, ideas about what may be included to help create the Haunted Carnival environment, or need information of any kind, please contact Bob Joyce by phone at (727) 422-1152, or email at to_joyce@msn.com. You may also contact any of the Plumb Elementary PTA Carnival Team at plumbcarnival@gmail.com.

Volunteers have always been the heart and soul of our Carnivals, and this year is no different! It regularly takes over 200 enthusiastic, dependable, Pelican supporters to staff all of the venues at the Carnival. If you are willing and available on Friday, October 25th and / or Saturday, October 26th, please make sure your registered volunteer status is up to date (you can find the information to either get reinstated or make a new application on our PTA website at www.plumbelementarypta.org), AND fill out the Carnival Volunteer form so you can let us know where you prefer to help out on Carnival Day. If you notice, on the bottom of the Carnival Volunteer form there is a list of set-up times for three different venues. These set-ups will happen BEFORE the Carnival begins, but are just as important as volunteering on Carnival Day! Without the set-ups, none of the venues would be all that they can be, so please consider donating your time in these areas as well. All three set ups need muscle power, as well as design savvy, organizational skills,

and an eye for detail, so there is a place for all registered volunteers! Registered Volunteers also play a huge part in the Haunted House build day! Volunteers will be under the covered PE court, hammering, nailing, cutting, and drilling away on October 5th starting at 8:30 a.m. Parents, please note that older children are welcome to accompany you, but they must be supervised at all times. There will be power tools and other potentially dangerous items around, and we do not want anyone to get hurt. Volunteering is a privilege offered to family and community members who see a need, and just cant help but fill it! We appreciate your time, your effort, and perhaps even the sacrifices you may make in order to help our school events be exceptional! So, will we see YOU around school at, or before, the Carnival? We hope so! If you have any questions about volunteering on either day, please contact Angie Fuller or Mary Patton.

Oh, look! Shhhhhhh

hh......

Our Carnival Silent Auction is always a big hit! Amy Sohoski, our seven year veteran Auction Coordinator, always makes sure that there are plenty of items to choose from, that they are of good quality, and her volunteers help to make sure that they are displayed nicely. So our Auction is always a great place to shop for all kinds of gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas! Part of the reason we have so many nice things to choose from at the Auction is because members of our community help us with donations! If you are a local business and would consider making any kind of donation (i.e. gift certificate(s) and/ or merchandise) to our Silent Auction, we would greatly appreciate any gifts that your business might offer! Your generosity would be recognized as a contribution to the further enhancement of our Plumb students educations! Gift Certificates may be dropped off at the Plumb front office in an envelope, marked Carnival Auction 2013. If you are dropping off merchandise, please include the value, along with the name of your company and any other information you may want to provide.

Another source of wonderful items for our auction is handmade merchandise. We know that we have many creative people in our school. If you are willing to donate your artwork or handmade items for the auction, we promise to handle them gently, and to deliver them to loving homes where they will be appreciated, like all good artwork should be, in the years to come! We applaud and appreciate your willingness to support the Plumb Elementary students in this way! Have you, or your class, started planning the Class Baskets yet? Remember, that they may be submitted by each individual class, or by a combination of classes at the same grade level, and that the baskets may have a theme, but that is not required. We know that you will want your class basket to be selected as the contest winner, because the winning class will win a special prize! Dont panic! You still have plenty of time to work on your baskets before the due date of Monday, October 21st. Class baskets must have a decorated labeled with: The theme name (if themed), the teachers name and grade level. The value of basket should be on a sticky note on the back. Each basket must be shrink

wrapped or in a Shrink Wrap Bag. Please do not use colored shrink wrap, as you can not see the items in the basket. Please make sure that the baskets are Auction Ready before you turn them in to the office! Friday nights at the Auction are special for two reasons: 1) That is when you can find delicious Coffee and Desserts in the Auction room, AND, 2) The Prize Drawing is at 8:30 p.m. Do you have a special dessert you would like to share ? Please consider making and donating your baked goodies for Coffee & Desserts. Look for the sign up sheet in the front office. Amy needs many volunteers to help with this venue. Assistance is needed in everything from set up on Friday to clean up on Saturday. Please fill out a PTA Carnival Volunteer form and send it in to the front office. Reminder: You must be a registered volunteer with Pinellas County schools in order to be able to volunteer for any Carnival venue. Join us in the air conditioned MultiPurpose Room. You will be glad that you did! Silent Auction hours are Friday, October 25th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 26th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Silent Auction will close at 2:00 p.m.to allow time for everyone to pick up their purchases. Your Plumb PTA Silent Auction Coordinator and the students of Plumb Elementary truly thank you for your contributions!
