In our kindergarten classroom we have a few different strategies and techniques that are used as behavioral and instructional

support systems. The first is a school wide technique called B.A.R.K., which stands for: Be prepared, Act Responsible, Respect everyone, and Keep safe. All students and staff are responsible for following this PBIS. Students also have the ability to receive a paw when they show they are performing in a B.A.R.K. manner. In our classroom we talked about what the golden rule was and how/why we need to follow it in our classroom/school/home setting. Another technique that is used not only school wide but also in our classroom specifically is the Give me 5 form. When any teacher or staff member says give me five, then the students should be following the give me 5 flyer:

There is a school wide system in place to be used if students do something wrong. There are slips that are called minors and majors which can be used in a few different ways in the classroom. Normally minors are for those minor behaviors that happen. Each teacher seems to use the minor slips in a different way at the school. In 3rd grade they give our three then they must meet with the principle, in 5th they end up getting a minor right away if they forget their homework. Majors are slips for the major incidents that could be dangerous or whatnot. The slip is sent straight to the principle and then the student and the parent may need to meet with her depending on the situation. The major slips must be signed by the parent.
