Evs Animals Birds
A bird is an animal with two legs and wings and body covered with feathers.
WINGS
Two birds of the same kind look very different. The male bird is covered with colourful feathers.
WOODPECKER
It feeds by drilling into tree bark with its sharp beak to get insects.
Weaver bird
A weaver bird weaves a nest using leaves and twigs.
Tailor Bird
Tailor birds sew leaves together to make their nest.
Hornbills
Hornbills lay their eggs in tree holes and seal with it mud.
Macaw
The Macaw uses its beak to break hard nuts.

Pelicans
Pelicans can store fish in their large beak.
Flamingo
Flamingo is the largest water bird.

Most of the birds are busy looking for food in the morning. Birds that cannot see at night go home at sunset. Some birds can see very well at night and most of them are good hunters. E.g. Owl, nightjars, geese and ducks.

Ostrich
Ostrich is the largest land bird. It can run as fast as race horses.
Emu
Emu also looks like an ostrich. They can also run fast. They cannot walk backward.

Penguins
Penguins cannot fly. They are found in cold areas. They have lots of small feathers which help them to live in the freezing climate.

Kiwi
Kiwi is also a small flightless bird.

Vulture
A vulture is a large bird that eats dead animals. It has a hooked beak and sharp claws for tearing flesh.
Eagle
An eagle is a large bird of prey. It has a sharp, curved beak and big claws for seizing its food.
