EdAd 5923: Field Exploration

Course Title: Field Exploration Number: EdAd 5923 Credits: 2 Course Description: Candidates for licensure as educational administrators will experience working in school systems that do not follow the traditional American model of delivery of programs and instruction. Travel is required and 20 hours of internship will be coordinated through the office of the Educational Administration Program Coordinator Competencies:
A8: Understanding how education is impacted by local, state, national, and international, events; A10: Demonstrating the ability to implement change or educational reform. H7: Demonstrating an understanding of the urgency of global competitiveness L7: Demonstrating understanding of different leadership and decision-making strategies, including but not limited to collaborative models and model appropriately their implementation

This course is designed to enable students to demonstrate understanding of alternative models of delivery of education. Assessments: Comparative review of delivery systems (Core: A8, H7, L7); Identification of innovations of potential benefit to Minnesota schools from internship (Core: A8, A10, L7); Reflections regarding educational competition in a global economy (Core: A8, A10, H7, L7). Instructional Plan: Students will travel as groups coordinated through the Educational Administration Program Coordinator, or will submit individual requests for required travel. Internships will be established in target schools through agreement with UMD and candidates will be placed in schools for a minimum of 20 hours, as administrative interns.
