School Library Mission Statement and Vision


Westfield Middle School Bloomingdale, Illinois

Mission The mission of the Westfield Middle School library is to help students meet and exceed academic expectations by teaching them with the essential skills for using ideas and information effectively and ethically. Through collaboration with staff members, administration, parents and the community, the school librarian empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and lifelong learners.

Vision Westfield Middle Schools library is an integral component of the schools educational program. The school librarian is an active and visible leader throughout the school district. Through collaborative instructional activities, up-to-date resources, and equitable access to new and emerging technology, the school librarian helps students and staff become effective and efficient lifelong users and creators of ideas and information. The library program promotes reading as a fundamental skill and teaches using differentiated methods that meet the students needs. The school library program is woven into the academic and social fabric of Westfield Middle School.
