PREAMBLE

The Bhutanese living in Iowa, keeping in view the objectives of meeting their needs and challenges, shall establish the Bhutanese Community in Iowa, hereinafter referred to as the BCI or the corporation. The BCI plays a necessary role for members in Iowa for the following reasons: A large number of Bhutanese families have resettled in Iowa, A need for a common forum for the Bhutanese to voice for fulfilling their basic requirements, To respect the feelings and desires of the Bhutanese, in order to draw closer together and become more united, To assist members in pursuing and achieving their objectives to preserve their distinctly rich cultural heritage, language, indigenous arts, and skills they have brought with them from Bhutan, To encourage and support the education of children and adults To help provide humanitarian assistance to the families, To reaffirm the commitment of all Bhutanese people to cooperate and collaborate with all individuals and groups to share common feelings and issues, To facilitate an easier and more comfortable integration for the Bhutanese population into Iowa and U.S. mainstream societies.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the organization is to establish BCI as a common forum for enhancing the quality of life of all the Bhutanese people living in Iowa through education, humanitarian aid, and help a transition and understand a new way of life in the state of Iowa. By doing so we will promote, protect, and preserve our distinctly rich cultural heritage in order to maintain our identity as Bhutanese Americans.

NAME, LOGO, SEAL, AND FLAG OF THE COMMUNITY


NAME

The name of the organization shall be the Bhutanese Community in Iowa. In short it is written as BCI.
LOGO Bhutanese Community in Iowa written on top half

between the outer and inner circle of the logo is the name of the organization. The flag of Iowa on the top corner of the inner circle reveals the organizations formation in Iowa for and by the Bhutanese people living in Iowa. Iowas flag, placed above the outline map of Bhutan, signifies BCIs allegiance to the state law and its flag. This also further signifies that we, the Bhutanese Iowans, are under the protection of the state of Iowa and do solemnly pledge to the state flag and the law. is the Nepali translation of the name of the organization Bhutanese Community in Iowa. It is written in Nepali script to signify Nepali as the first language of the Bhutanese people living in Iowa. The outline of the map of Bhutan with people within it signifies the community of Bhutanese people. I am because we are in the lower segment of the outer circle of the logo is the motto of the organization. I am because we are suggests that our identity as Bhutanese Americans is possible only if all the Bhutanese people join hands together to preserve, protect and promote our heritage. The fifty stars within the inner circle of the logo reveal the fifty different states of the United States of America or the land of the United States of America in totality to which the BCI pledges its allegiance.

SEAL

The seal of the Organization shall be the black and white version of the logo without the stars.

FLAG

The organizations flag shall have the logo placed on top of alternating red and white stripes that resemble the 13 stripes in the US flag. The stripes and the logo in the rectangular center signify BCI allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Purposes The flowing are purposes of the BCI:

(a) To be a voice for communication and advocacy for necessary support and assistance to members of the community. (b) To preserve, protect and uplift the cultural and traditional values and language of Bhutan. (c) To promote and provide education to children and adults who struggle with barriers associated with being in a new and unfamiliar place. (d) To teach Bhutanese morals and values to members and nonmembers of the BCI. (e) To promote and extend mutual help and cooperation in the community. (f) To facilitate and enable community members to have easier access to different services, jobs and other opportunities. (g) To facilitate and enable community members to integrate themselves more easily into the mainstream society. (h) To coordinate and launch educational, health, charitable and other noteworthy humanitarian programs in the local community. (i) To establish community media and develop strong networking tools for members with the community. (j) To keep the Bhutanese community people involved and informed of changes and developments taking place within the community, the United States, Bhutan, and the world at large. (k) To cooperate and collaborate with other organizations on regional and national levels in matters of common cause and objectives. (l) To promote and encourage social justice, peace and security while discouraging any discrimination of any kind on the basis of caste, color, creed, sex, religion and place of birth. (m) To provide social activities and networking to assist in finding employment.

(n) To encourage participation in activities that promote health , exercise, unity, music, arts, and culture. (o) To organize and observe Bhutanese holidays. (p) To promote unity among us and other diverse. (q) To provide skills development trainings and programs. (r) To help with the care for children, youth, elderly people, and those of differing abilities. (s) To avoid political activities and avoid any political agenda.
