How to write a proposal

THE AIM - The first paragraph of the proposal should explain the aim of the dissertation - The aim may be described as a more detailed re-elaboration of the title. THE OBJECTIVES - After the aim has been explained briefly and clearly, is it time to give more detail about the issues to be explored. - The objectives may be outlined in one paragraph. - Explain in more detail what the conclusions would probably look like - Example: o Mention the texts/issues which you will focus most on o Mention any key concepts or ideas you will be exploring THE CONTEXT - Your research cannot be conducted in a vacuum. - Show the critical/theoretical/practical context in which your research will intervene. - Show that you already have a basic understanding of this context at the beginning of your research. It might help to bring it two slightly different ideas/applications - the angle is key

THE METHODOLOGY Whether you have a separate section for methology will depend on the nature of your proposal. In empirical research, methodology should be discussed separately and in detail. In theoretical/critical approaches, the methodology is indicated in the previous paragraphs of the proposal. Even if youre doing a literature proposal you still need a methodology is it theoretical/comparative etc

PRELIMINARY BIBLIOGRAPHY Indicates the general direction of your research Guarantees that you are aware of some basic research in the topic you chose 5 to 10 texts are enough for an Undergraduate Proposal
