Overview & Purpose: Students will learn and develop an understanding of the difference in statements and questions. They will then take what they have learned and incorporate it in a writing narrative of their own.

Objectives: *Students will understand the difference in statements and questions *Students will take what they have learned and incorporate it into a writing piece of their own. Materials Needed: http://jc-schools.net/dynamic/la/LA2.html. Writing template (attached) Best Friends by Margaret Snyder Pencils Crayons/colored pencils Lead in: Games on the dynamic website listed above. Step-by-Step Procedures: 1. Teacher goes to the website listed above. Discusses the punctuation knowledge. Then lets students play Whats My Mark? Quiz on the website.

2. After the games, the teacher will call the students to the reading carpet. 3. Teacher will discuss that we are continuing our unit of friendship. 4. Teacher will introduce what the book Best Friends is about & introduce the word adventure. The teacher must discuss what adventure is (adventure is a very exciting experience). 5. After the discussion on the word adventure the teacher will read the book. 6. After reading ask a few questions such as : What adventure did Cassie and Emmy go on? How many of yall have been on an adventure before? 7. After students answer, tell them we are going back to our seats to write about an adventure of our own. 8. Students will go back to their seats begin jotting down their ideas of what to write about and then start writing on the writing paper attached to the lesson plan. Activity: See above. Closure: Start writing their own piece about their adventure. Have some students share. Assessment Based On Objectives: Writing Adaptations: Early finishers: Have the students color a picture about their adventure.
