Attitude
Attitude is a state of mind with a tendency to feel and behave in a particular way towards objects, people or events.

Cognitive Dissonance : It is any incompatibility between two or more attitudes or between behaviour and attitudes.
Festinger said that any form of inconsistency is uncomfortable and that individual will attempt to reduce the dissonance and the desire to reduction of dissonance depends upon 1. Importance of the elements creating the dissonance. 2. Degree of influence the individual believes he/she has over the elements. 3. Rewards maybe involved with dissonance.

Major job attitudes


Job satisfaction : The positive feeling about ones job resulting from an evaluation of its characteristics.
Job involvement : Degree of psychological identification with the job where perceived performance is important to self-worth. Psychological empowerment : Employees belief in the degree to which they impact their work environment, their competence , the meaningfulness of job and the perceived autonomy in their work.

Organizational commitment : Degree to which an employee identifies with the particular organization and its goals and wishes to maintain its relationship with the organization.
