Difficulty: Adapt the skill level, problem type or the rules on how the students may approach the assignment. Make the assignment fit the student and grade level. Simplify directions, provide cues and technical assistance such as computers and calculators. Alternate goal: Designed for a student with severe disabilities. Adapt the goals objectives or outcome expectations while using the same materials as the rest of the class ex; in social studies expect one student to be able to locate the states, while others learn and locate the capitals as well. Level of support: Increase the amount of personal assistance with a specific learner. Provide instruction in a manner that can become independently supported as necessary. Assign peer buddies, teaching assistants, tutors and self check materials. Output: Adapt how the learner can respond to the instruction. Does every assignment need to be in pencil and paper tasks? Instead of answering questions in writing use verbal techniques, projects, games, portfolios and hands on tasks for evaluation of learning.
