TheYellowWallpaperAnalysis Imaginesittinginalargeatticalone,anuneasyfeelingengulfingyouasaghastlyauratauntsand mockssilently.Ahideouscollectionofyellowshadessmoulderonthewalls,asilhouetteslithering aroundintheshadowsthatsnakeupthepeelingwallpaper.TheYellowWallpaperbyCharlotte PerkinsGilmanisanunforgettablestoryduetoitsincredibledescriptionsandabilitytocreateimages insideyourmind.Thesettingenrichesthemoodandhelpssculpttheprotagonist,whiletheplotmakes severalunexpectedturnsasitbuildsup.Thecharacterisationispaintedstrokebystrokeasthethoughts andactionsbloom,whileGilmansuniquestyleofwritinggracefullyanimatesthestory,strikingalong lastingimprintonyourmind.TheYellowWallpaperpresentsitselfinashockingyetcharmingway, startingatthebeginning. AsIstated,thewallpapercanbeseenasacharacter.Thepersonificationofitgivesadarker undertonetotheoverallmoodofthestory.Thereadermaybefeelsashiverortwouptheirspineasa shadowlikecharacterleadstheprotagonistdownaroadofdarkcoilingmadness.Theuglyshadesof thepapermayrepresentthevariousthoughtsandendlesspathstheyspiralthroughdepression,asour protagonistisconsumedbythetrainofthoughthatrunsthroughherhead."Youthinkyouhave masteredit,butjustasyougetwellunderwayinfollowing,itturnsabacksomersaultandthereyouare. Itslapsyouintheface,knocksyoudown,andtramplesuponyou.Itislikeabaddream."(Gilman). Theimageryinthestoryisdescribedwithfittingandmeaningfulwordsthatcreatethishauntingstory. Afterreading,Thereadercanbeleftwithanarrayofemotionsasthestoryconcludesandquestions aboutthehumanlikewallpaper.
