Two houses were destroyed and a few people lost their homes. Luckily no one was killed. Amarjit Singh was the first person to see the fire .He was watching television in the family hall. He smelt something burning so he went to look out of his bedroom window. He saw smoke coming from a house nearby. He ran downstairs to the dining room and telephoned the fire station. Then he ran outside to call the villagers to help. Some of the villagers tried to put out the fire with pails of water. Others helped to carry the furniture and other things out of the houses. When the firemen arrived, the fire had spread to the next house. They took about an hour to put out the fire. The fire department checked to find out how the fire started. Neighbours must be ready to help each other, said Amarjit when he was asked about the fire. I am glad no one was killed, he added.
