Representations

The greater majority of music videos adhere to misogyny in some shape of form and therefore label women as worthless and weak. In my video I will completely subvert from this and instead denote the mistreatment of men. My music video will portray the negative representation of both men and women through the plot and themes; the negative representation of men will spur from the mans inability to divert his life from descending into a chaos after he is emotionally destroyed by a woman hence leading to his fall into the arms of drugs paraphernalia. The negative representations of women will symbolic throughout the video, the burning chemicals and wire will connote the ruthlessness, destructiveness and brutality of women's raw emotions. I will also explore the stereotypes and perceptions of age, especially that of the 18-25 age range. In a 2009 YouGov survey, the UK populations of those aged 18-25, is that they will be most likely to have fun, with time for socialising, sports/hobbies and doing something adventurous. In reality, 18-25 year olds were found most likely to be lonely and least likely to be in a satisfying relationship. They were also the age group most likely to have financial worries. As of this evidence, I will attempt to portray the reality of this age group rather than the perception and this shall be done through the use of such denotations as the actor being shown alone rather than in a two/three shot.
