1. Gather data, examine patterns, and apply
information for decision making tools and
resources. (1, 4)
• Initially, have students
individually research a set
of questions about planets
in solar system, via the
internet.
• Then, have students
record their individual
data findings on
worksheets provided by
teacher.
2. Participate in a cooperative learning project
in an online learning community. (2)
• Then groups containing two
students or more will
compare their individually
recorded data findings
through electronic means.

3. Select and use the appropriate tools and
digital resources to accomplish and solve
problems. (3,4,6)
• Next, the same groups
of two or more
students complete
research using
internet,
create database
report, analyze
information, discuss
problem, word process
a solution to the
problem.
4. Employ data-collection technology such as
probes, handheld devices, and mapping systems
to gather, view, analyze and report results for
content. (3,4,6)
• Finally, the same
groups take turns
completing an Excel
spreadsheet including
planet name,
estimated weight on
planet, actual weight
on planet. Create
graph. Analyze graph.
