Training objectives
Welcome to the UniTrain-I course Instrumentation Technology 1: Measuring electrical variables. The LUCAS-NLLE team wishes you plenty of fun and success working through the course topics and performing the experiments. The pages that follow provide you with a summary of the course contents and the required equipment. The course provides a general summary of measuring techniques both classic and modern that are used to measure electrical quantities. This includes explanations of all the relevant theory and measuring principles and is demonstrated in illuminating and well-tested experiments.

Training contents
Understanding how galvanometers work Distinguishing between deflection and bridge measuring methods The difference between analog and digital measurements The difference between moving iron and moving coil galvanometers How electrodynamic galvanometers work Altering the measuring range for measurements of current and voltage Principles for measuring power Measurement of apparent, reactive and active power Principles for measuring the power factor Measuring power factors Understanding how electrical work is measured Measuring electrical work Understanding how frequency is measured Measuring frequency
