Release

With fresh eyes blinded by orescent lighting, I awoke to nd myself plugged in. Cannula stretched across bare skin, securing me as a straight jacket. As I clenched the nursing call button, I awaited the clamor of hurried feet, screeching along the oor. But, to my dismay, only silence. I felt enticed to escape, ripping free, my bare feet cringed against the frigid oor. Tattered muscles convulsed, swaying my tormented body and stumbling me to freedom. Staggering through the corridor until I was rushed with anguish, only then realizing I could not continue. dear agony. Fingertips grazed along my shoulders, as perceptive eyes perforated. The warmth of life combated with the gloom of death, each appealing to a torn soul. Two words were spoken, alluring me, seducing me. I succumbed, carried into darkness. sweet release.
