Dear Mrs. Covington, My name is Nicole Smith and I am currently enrolled at the University of North Florida in the Nutrition & Dietetics undergraduate program. I expect to graduate in April 2014. I am writing to you because I am very interested in the dietetic internship you all offer at the Solmaz Institute within Lenoir-Rhyne University. I became intrigued by this particular internship after searching through many of them and finding that this was the only one that primarily focuses on children and weight management. I am extremely passionate about children and the growing obesity epidemic among this age group and am thrilled that this internship would be something that gives me the opportunity to work and learn in environments with both. As Ive mentioned, I am interested in working with children regarding their food consumption and weight management. I have always been able to communicate well with those of all ages. I have also been able to demonstrate the encouragement and guidance that this young population needs through volunteering in multiple settings where there has been a great need for nutritional help and knowledge. I feel that I would greatly benefit from this internship and that I am a good fit for it because the primary focus of the program is what I am convinced would best train me and give me the proper experience for the future career as a pediatric dietitian that I want.
