2013-2014 Mortar Board Outstanding Student Scholarship Application The 2013-2014 Kansas State Chapter of Mortar Board will

award two scholarships, each in the amount of $500, to outstanding JUNIOR students, who demonstrate the ideals of this senior honor society: outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service. The scholarship will be awarded for use in the Spring 2014 semester. The criteria listed below will be followed in the selection of these individuals. All applications must be received by Friday, October 4th, 2013 at 5:00 PM in the Leadership Studies Building Room 103. No late applications will be accepted. Linda Henry and Sam Kruckenberg Mortar Board Outstanding Student Scholarships Amount: Two awards of $500 each to JUNIOR students (cumulative 60-90 hrs.) demonstrating outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service. To apply, students must have and submit the following: 1. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. 2. An updated resume that includes principal leadership and service involvement and honors at the college level. 3. An essay of 250 words or less, focusing on the one activity the student feels explains how he/she exemplifies the Mortar Board criteria of outstanding scholarship, leadership, or service. 4. A cover page, including the name, local address, phone number, and e-mail address of the student. ***Finalists will be contacted for personal interviews by October 9, 2013. These interviews will take place on Sunday, October 13, 2013, and will last approximately twenty minutes. The interviews will be conducted by Mortar Board members and advisors and will be held at the School of Leadership Studies building. The scholarship recipients will be invited to a reception in November to be recognized for their accomplishments. Details of this reception will be provided to the scholarship recipients once selected.
