Analogue measurement of current and voltage


Analog galvanometers are still used to display a wide variety of measurements. Such galvanometers have the advantage over digital displays that it is easy to determine trends. The following types of instrument number amongst those used most often: Moving coil galvanometers Moving iron galvanometers Electrodynamic galvanometers The photograph shows a "historic" multimeter, no longer used today since it does not meet with modern safety regulations. The properties of individual galvanometers will be covered in more detail in the following sections.
