Clinical Expectations Call your clinical instructor on their cell if you are not coming to clinical or anticipate being

g late Arrive on time Come preparedall care plan forms should be completed (with exception of physical assessment and journal which are completed after clinical) along with med cards the night before clinical. This paperwork should be handed to the clinical instructor immediately upon arrival on the clinical day. Students who come unprepared for clinical will be sent home and the time counted as a clinical absence. No students are to be on the clinical units prior to the arrival of the clinical instructor in the facility. Students are expected to perform AM care on their client. This includes oral care, bath and changing the linen at a minimum. Each student must also do a head to toe physical assessment every week. Students may only do procedures or pass meds under the clinical instructors direct supervision. Although staff nurses may offer to supervise you, this is the clinical instructors responsibility. Exceptions will be made by the clinical instructor on a case by case basis. Your instructor will let you know an appropriate time for lunch breaks.. Please let your clinical instructor know if you are leaving the nursing unit at any other time. Post conference will start at about 1:30 or 1:45 in a conference room to be determined. Please make good use of your limited time in the clinical area. There is always something for you to do that will assist in advancing your nursing education. Offer to help a nurse or nursing assistant, feed patients, review the chart for updates etc.
