About the Scholarship: The TAFE NSW Oliver C Shaul Scholarship was established in 1988 by Mr. Oliver Shaul. This scholarship is awarded annually on a state-wide basis to the most meritorious student in the Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) Trade Course. The winner of this award is given the opportunity to further their studies and experience overseas, for a period of at least three months in a restaurant, hotel kitchen or training institution of first class international reputation. This prestigious scholarship provides the winner with the opportunity to broaden their education and strive for excellence in their chosen career. The scholarship covers travel, accommodation and some associated training costs. The scholarship must commence within six months of being awarded.

Selection Criteria This award is open to students in their final year of the Commercial Cookery Trade Course. The Statutory trustees, at their discretion, make the award to the most meritorious applicant, having regard to the following criteria. a) Academic achievement of applicants in the TAFE NSW Commercial Cookery Trade Course. b) Commitment to the goal of achieving excellence in the field of Commercial Cookery in Australia. c) A capacity to be an Australian goodwill ambassador overseas.
