Hannah Shute 10/29/13 Tutsi Genocide against the Hutu 1.

Military officials planned the attacks, but Hutu soldiers and militiamen were the killers. 2. Tutsis were targeted for many reasons. First of all, there was already animosity between the two tribes, but when the Belgians colonized Rwanda and Burundi, they chose sides with the Tutsis, who remained in Rwanda. When the Hutu president of Burundi was killed in a plane crash. The Hutus blamed this on the Tutsis and revolted against the Tutsis. 3. People of the outside world were shocked and horrified, but many government officials did not do much to interfere. 4. Victims pleaded and begged to be left alive. Some tried to play dead or run away to refugee camps, while others were forced to pay not to get killed. Unfortunately, almost all Tutsis were killed. 5. They had almost no consequences, besides the guilt that they had to face after murder. 6. They were ordered. 7. The effects on the children were astounding. They will forever carry the memories of death and destruction for the rest of their lives. 8. Some wished to help those effected. 9. Genocide is a horror that has recurred throughout history, and hopefully genocide outbreaks will likely be stopped as soon as they start. 10. I think genocide can be stopped, but not prevented. We can try to stop genocide once it starts, but its difficult to detect when and where genocide might start in the first place.
