MUSUMECI CALLS LINDSAY JR. MISINFORMED OVER SEROTA COMMENTS

Holbrook, NYAnthony Musumeci, the Republican and Conservative candidate for the eighth district in the Suffolk County Legislature, today responded to Bill Lindsay Jrs comments from a September 30th press release attacking Musumeci for inaction in stopping the Serota Properties Islip Pines Project. Frankly, I am a little surprised how nave he is about the planning process, said Musumeci who currently serves on Islip Town Planning Board after his appointment in 2012 . The hearing in July was not a public hearing, nor was it to cast a vote for or against the project. That hearing was merely an update to the site plan which the applicant has presented several times before. One of my many concerns about the project is the traffic congestion. However, a new traffic study was not presented at that time and will be in the future, Musumeci continued. Anthony Musumeci is an active member of Oakdale, Bayport and Bohemia Civic Associations. Anthony always keeps me posted on the latest happenings that may affect Oakdale , said Carol Schwasnick, President of the Oakdale Civic Association. He wants to make sure I know what is happening so I can relay it to the community. Just a few weeks ago he was extremely helpful preventing a developer build a large scale apartment complex in our area. Bill Etts, President of the Sayville Chamber Commerce said Anthony has been extremely helpful for Sayville regarding development projects. Mr. Etts continued, Anthony was the first person to call me regarding Target moving on to Broadway and Sunrise Highway to make sure my concerns were being addressed. Regarding Serota, he has been in constant communication with me for months on end. He is always willing to help. Musumeci, who grew up in Sayville and currently resides in Bohemia has 13 years experience in Engineering and Construction and holds multiple certifications from the International Code Council and the Unites States Green Building Council. It is natural for people outside of the planning process to get emotional about what may happen in their backyard. However, Musumeci continued, for someone running to be an elected official, to be this misinformed, has to make you wonder how qualified he is for the position. ###
