GRAVEL SURFACING WEARING COURSE

Description This work shall consist of furnishing, placing and compacting approved gravel surfacing material of the thickness and width and at the locations shown on the plans or ordered by the engineer, on a prepared subgrade, in accordance with these specifications and in conformity with the lines, grades and dimensions shown on the plans or as directed by the engineer. Materials The Material shall consist of lateritic gravel, calcareous gravel, weathered rock, conglomerate or a combination of any of these materials. It shall be produced by crushing and screening and shall consist of hard durable, angular particles or fragment of slag, stone or gravel meeting the required size and grading and other requirements given below : The material shall be free from vegetable matter and clay balls Gravel surfacing wearing course materials shall, unless otherwise authorised, conform to the following requirements when finally placed.
