QUESTION
1.

A group of students carried out an experiment to show the effects of temperature on


the rate of an enzyme reaction. They used amylase as the enzyme and starch as the
substrate.
Sekumpulan murid telah menjalankan satu eksperimen untuk menunjukkan kesan
suhu ke atas kadar tindak balas enzim. Mereka menggunakan amilase sebagai
enzim dan kanji sebagai substrat.

A mixture of amylase and starch suspension is immersed in a water bath set at
temperature 5C as shown in Diagram above (a). At one-minute interval, a drop of
the mixture is transferred onto a tile containing iodine as shown in
Diagram above (b). The time taken when the mixture failed to turn blue-black when
tested with iodine is recorded. The step is repeated for the mixtures of amylase and
starch at different temperatures. Table A shows the results of the experiment.
