Entry-Level Formative Summative Quick Write Using your prior knowledge of the American Revolution please spend the next ten minutes writing about the causes of the American Revolution and also write about your knowledge on our U.S. Constitution. Please identify the who, what, where, and why. Brainstorm/discussion What is a Monarchy? What is a Republic? How are the two different and what kind of government do we have today? Timeline Students will construct a poster board timeline of the events leading to the Declaration of Independence Quick Write #2 Please list some of the democratic ideals that are incorporated in the Declaration of Independence. After you have constructed your list please identify what enlightenment philosopher is associated with these democratic ideals. Crossword puzzle For homework please complete the crossword puzzle titled Road to the American Revolution Quiz #1 student will complete a 10 point quiz on the U.S. constitution with emphasis on federal versus state authority. Oral Presentation Students will be placed in four groups: Colonist, British/Loyalist, Federalist and Anti-Federalist. Each group must present a 15 min presentation that highlights their understanding of each groups position. Students will have time in class to research primary documents that will serve as their evidence and will also draw from their textbooks. Exam Students will take part in a 35-question exam covering the enlightenment, critical events that lead to Revolution, the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. (Scantron)
