WHY DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR GOD IS THE GOD? is before all things: Col. 1:17, Ps. 90:2, Rev. 1:8 created all things: Col. 1:16 upholds all things: Heb. 1:3 is above all things: Isa. 45:5-6, Eph. 4:6 knows all things: Ps. 139:4 can do all things: Jer. 32:27, Lk. 1:37 accomplishes all things: Isa. 14:24, 27 rules over all things: Ps. 66:7, Ps. 103:19 controls all things: Job 42:2

Sovereignty: above all, superior to others, greatest, supreme in authority, ruler, independent of all others, outstanding, all power

FIVE WAYS GOD SHOWS HIS SOVEREIGNTY 1. His titles: Sovereign Lord, Alpha and Omega, King of Kings, Lord of Lords 2. His Promises: Rm. 8:28; Phil 2:9-11; II Peter 1:4 3. His Story (History): GenRev 4. Through Prophesy: Isa. 44:6-8 5. Through Jesus Christ: all the Messianic Prophecies

III. TWO QUESTIONS 1. If God is sovereign why does He allow bad things to happen? Answer: He desires genuine relationship which requires freedom of choice 2. If God is sovereign over all people, events and history, doesnt this make a sham of personal responsibility? Answer: Your choices make a difference / Gods purpose will come to pass.

PAUL UNDERSTOOD
Phil. 1:19 (NIV) For I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. Phil. 2:12-13 (NIV) Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
