As the blood goes through the lungs it drops off carbon dioxide and picks up oxygen. The blood picks up nutrients in the small intestine.

Function of Muscular System Controls voluntary & involuntary movement in your body. Voluntary= you think about it (raising your hand) Involuntary= you dont think about it (your heart beating, your stomach moving) Vocabulary: Bones- living tissue of bones surrounded by minerals Joints- the place where 2 bones meets Tendons- attaches muscles to bone Ligament- connect one to another Calcium- a mineral that makes bones hard & that is needed through out the body. If your do not have enough calcium in your diet, your body will take it from your bones, making weaker.
