The two met at a homecoming event their freshman year and were married in August of 2002, after both graduating from Madison in May of that year. Upon getting married, the two stayed in Madison until a teaching position opened up in nearby Normal, Wisconsin, a town 20 minutes away from Perfect that was great for Katie.
