Brent Matheny Post-Secondary Plans Like many youth looking into the uncertain future, I'm still not

entirely sure what my plans are for my life after I finish my secondary education at Palatka High School I do ha!e a general idea though, and se!eral possi"ilities for careers paths ha!e remained floating on the surface of my mind throughout the past few years #etting a "achelor$s degree is a definite first step I am not a fan of the large state uni!ersity system, and "ecause of it, ha!e looked more closely at the smaller, intellectually focused li"eral arts colleges %eed &ollege in 'regon, (enyon &ollege in 'hio, and, dare I hope to get in, )mherst &ollege in Massachusetts are all on my radar as possi"le locations I also dream, on certain lofty days and e!enings, of attending an I!y League school, perhaps *ale or Har!ard, "ut I fear I do not ha!e the personal connections nor "irthrights necessary to thri!e in the elite +ew ,ngland social climate In regards to areas of study, I'!e always fancied the idea of a dou"le ma-or Life is too short and too "eautiful not to try to learn e!erything 'ne of these ma-ors, I'm !ery confident, will "e philosophy .hough there may "e some stigma associated with such a /useless0 ma-or as this, I find the su"-ect too fascinating to gi!e up1 in addition to pure passion, ma-ors in philosophy positi!ely correlate with higher LS). scores, and, at least currently, I'm entertaining law school as a real possi"ility .he other ma-or I !acillate on Psychology used to "e my go-to answer, though the workings of the mind still interest me, as of late, I'!e "ecome enchanted "y the hulking monstrosity of an organic machine that is the world economy )n office on ( Street would "e an accepta"le end goal for my career Political science is a third option, "ut I don't see many ad!antages of choosing it o!er other concentrations +o matter what I end up doing, education, scholarship, and intellectualism will remain a core pillar of my personal "elief structure I can only hope to make a positi!e impact on the world though the tools o"tained though my learnings, allowing me to lea!e the world a "etter place than when I found it
