LaTrisha Jones OMDE 601 Section 9041 November 10, 2013 Wave 3 Reflections

1. Did you experience any "a-ha!" moments during this wave? Tell us more about them and what specifically made them "a-ha!" moments. During this wave I did experience an a-ha! moment. I experienced this moment when looking at the systems that was introduced during this wave. I thought that this wave was more introduced st in the mid 21 century rather than mid-90s. I originally thought that social media such as Twitter, would have been a system used in this wave, but I believe this will come later. 2. Go back to your original definition and consider again how it has changed (and if it has). What specific readings, interactions, and/or discussions influenced the change? Nothing else has changed my original definition since Wave 1. My original definition included much of wave 2 and 3. I always thought of distance education as a more modern and technical concept. 3. Think of a real-world situation, perhaps your current work environment, where you could apply something that you have learned in this module. Describe this situation in your journal. I work at an employer that has an ample amount of employees that are trained in a virtual environment. With the information that I learned in this wave, I could incorporate the fact that distance learning is more of giving the student the information and they interpret it the best way for them. In this wave it spoke about self-directed learning and I believe this would be a good concept to bring to my employer and maybe employees would have an easier time in training.
